Oh wait - WBA's first anime-styled project. I thought his Thundercats call was pretty epic back in the day, and I know someone who has it as their ringtone. Watching the occasional rerun showed me that a lot of the voice cast didn't have a lot of range or fit the character they were voicing, but he did. It'd probably be a fan wank move of me to hope that they had the same guy who voiced Lion-O to voice him in this series, but it'd at least hope for a cameo. I just wanted to point out that quoted statement doesn't necessarily make too much sense, at least to me anyhow.

#2011 THUNDERCATS INTRO SERIES#
I like what I see so far, and I most likely will be catching this series when it premieres. That said, don't peg me as a fan nitpicking at aesthetics. For me, the former's style of simplicity in shape and form were fine in small doses (I think they used it or something similar for the 90's Superman, Batman, and Justice League, and for some of the Teen Titan series), but I preferred the style featured in the first few seasons of the 90's animated series of Batman. I will, however, say that judging from the one promotional image, it's probably not taking a que from that mixture of Paul Dini's style and/or the style featured in Teen Titans. A lot of syndicated cartoons had a seemly higher production because animation companies such as TMS were responsible for the animation, such as Bionic Six, Mighty Orbots, M.A.S.K., and Thundercats' sister show, Silverhawks. The fact that they say it's anime-esque is kinda moot in that retrospect.

I might have missed something, but I always thought that the original series had a very anime defined styling to it in the character design Rankin Bass was known for outsourcing their animation projects to Japan, as were several other animation companies of the time, such as DiC. "Thundercats" will be executive produced by Sam Register (“Teen Titans,” “Ben 10,” “Batman: The Brave and the Bold”), with Michael Jelenic (“Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” “Wonder Woman”) and Ethan Spaulding (“Avatar: The Last Airbender”) as producers.
